Our Story

Every Atelier Earthmade vessel begins as something that cannot be hurried — a single block of stone, older than any country, waiting in a quarry for someone to see what it might become.

We started Atelier Earthmade because we kept finding that stone. Travertine the colour of late afternoon. Onyx that seems to hold a light of its own. Marble veined like weather. Carved into baths of extraordinary beauty — and then, again and again, we watched those same baths defeat the people who wanted them. Not on price. On everything after: a tonne of fragile stone, an ocean, a customs border, a staircase. The distance between a quarry town in Italy or Indonesia and a quiet bathroom in America turned out to be the hardest part of all.

So we made that distance our work.

We choose the stone and the hands that shape it, watch each block carved over months, and then carry everything that comes after — the crating, the ocean freight, the customs and every duty, the insurance, and the specialist white-glove delivery that lowers a thousand kilos of stone gently into the exact place it will live. One person stays with you from your first message to the moment it stands level in your room. If anything goes wrong, it is ours to make right — never yours to chase.

We are a small team, and we keep it that way on purpose. It is the only way to care about a single vessel the way a gallery cares about a single painting: to answer honestly, to send you photographs of the actual block instead of a stranger’s stock photo, to treat a bath as what it truly is — the most permanent, most quiet, most personal object you will ever bring into a home.

That is the whole of it. The exact stone you chose. A piece that arrives insured, duty-paid, and cared for — ready to outlast the room around it, and, in all likelihood, you.
