Shipping policy
One price, delivered. Every listed price includes the carving, export crating, export documentation, ocean freight, transit insurance with the sum insured stated in writing on your order, and all US import duty and customs clearance. There is no separate shipping charge and no bill at the border.
We are the importer of record. Atelier Earthmade is a trading name of Sapiens Holding Inc, a California corporation (entity number 5821228), 1402 N Beverly Glen Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90077. Sapiens Holding Inc clears each vessel into the United States in its own name and pays all import duty and customs charges before delivery. Nothing further is payable on delivery. Where we are registered to collect it, state and local sales tax is calculated and displayed at checkout before you pay; it is the only amount ever added to the listed price.
Where we deliver. Checkout delivers to the 48 contiguous United States and the District of Columbia, and the all-in price above applies to those addresses only. Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the US territories and APO/FPO addresses are not served through checkout: a crated vessel of several hundred kilograms reaches them by ocean or air freight at a cost we will not guess at, so we quote those addresses individually. Write to us and we will price yours properly. International commissions work the same way: freight, import duty and local taxes differ by country, so they are quoted individually and confirmed in writing before any payment is taken.
The three-day hold. When you purchase, your order is held for three days while we assess the logistics for your address — access, floor level, whether rigging is required, and the delivery route — and confirm that plan to you in writing. Nothing is ordered and no block is committed to the workshop during this window.
Cancellation runs both ways. Within 72 hours of your payment clearing, either of us may cancel. You may cancel for any reason at all. We may cancel if the workshop or the logistics for your address cannot be confirmed. In either case you are refunded in full. The three-day hold and this cancellation window are the same window, not two. After it closes your block is bought and cutting begins, and the commission cannot be cancelled or returned unless we agree otherwise with you in writing by email.
Lead times. Lead times are good-faith estimates, not guarantees. If we will miss a confirmed window you will be offered a definite revised date or a full refund — your choice, in writing and before the window ends.
Delivery. Delivery is by appointment to your ground-floor threshold, still crated. Rigging, craning, stair carries and placement within the building are excluded and are carried out by your own licensed installer. Tell us where the piece must stand and we will quote that work with a specialist in your city.
Damage in transit — you must refuse the delivery. Inspect the crate and the piece before you sign. If the piece arrives damaged, you must refuse the delivery. Do not accept it and do not sign for it. Refusal is the event that permits the transit insurance claim and the case against the carrier. If a damaged piece is accepted and signed for, that route closes and the claim becomes very difficult to make. Note the damage on the carrier’s paperwork, photograph what you can, and tell us the same day. We handle the claim with the insurer and the carrier, and you deal only with us. If the piece is sound, sign, and keep the crate and all packaging until it is installed and confirmed good.
Cover ends at delivery. Transit cover runs to the moment the piece is accepted, and our liability ends there. Atelier Earthmade adds no structural guarantee of its own beyond it. Where the workshop that made your piece offers a manufacturer’s warranty, we pass it through to you in writing on that workshop’s terms; these vary by workshop and some offer none at all, so we will tell you exactly what applies to your vessel before you buy.
Floor loading. Confirming floor loading is the responsibility of your own architect or structural engineer. We provide the exact measured weight, footprint and load-spread figures for your piece at no charge.
Natural variation is not a fault. Colour, veining, translucency, natural fissures and inclusions differ from block to block and will differ from every photograph shown. These are characteristics of natural stone, not defects.
Questions. Write to us at atelier@atelierearthmade.com and we reply within one business day.
Faulty or not as described. Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights if a piece arrives late, damaged, faulty or not as described.
