Trade & Specification

Atelier Earthmade works with architects, interior designers and builders specifying bathrooms at the top of the market. This page carries the numbers you need to put one of our vessels into a drawing — and to know the floor will carry it.

Every piece, specified

Dimensions are external. In use adds roughly 220 litres of water and one bather. Load figures are the piece divided by its plan footprint — a working average, not a point load.

On floor loading. US residential floors are commonly designed to 40 lb/ft² live load. Several of these pieces exceed that over their footprint, and Erebus at 185 lb/ft² in use requires structural review on any suspended floor. On a ground-floor slab it is rarely a question. Above the ground storey, have your engineer confirm before you specify — we will send the exact measured figures for the individual block at no charge, and we would far rather you checked than guessed.

What we send you

At reservation, and at no charge: rough-in drawings with the waste position, so the bathroom can be closed up correctly. The exact measured weight of your client’s actual block with footprint and load-spread figures, before any balance falls due. Photographs of the finished piece for approval — nothing ships until your client has seen the stone they are getting.

Every vessel is bored, hollowed and honed from one piece of stone. No resin core, no veneer over a substrate, no seam in the body. The waste outlet is cored and a pop-up waste fitted; there is no tap on the vessel, so the filler is floor- or wall-mounted and chosen by you.

How the commercials work

One price, delivered. The listed price includes carving, crating, export documentation, ocean freight, transit insurance with the sum insured stated in writing, and all US import duty and customs clearance. We are the importer of record — nothing is ever billed to your client at the border.

Delivery is by appointment to the ground-floor threshold, crated. Rigging, craning and stair carries are excluded and quoted separately with a specialist in your city — tell us where the piece must stand and we will price that work rather than leave it to the day.

Lead time is 14–22 weeks for most of the collection, 24–32 for Aeon. Checkout serves the 48 contiguous states and the District of Columbia; Alaska, Hawaii, the US territories and international projects are quoted individually.

Working with us on a project

If you are specifying for a client, write to us before you draw. We will tell you plainly whether a piece suits the room, the floor and the access — including when the answer is that it does not. We would rather lose a specification than be the reason a bathroom has to be rebuilt.

Beyond the collection we accept a small number of fully bespoke commissions each season, drawn to your dimensions, from $95,000.
