A boulder lifted whole from a riverbed, where the current spent centuries rounding and darkening it. The outer face is left exactly as the water left it — split, dark, irregular — while the bowl within is worked smooth enough to hold still water. No block is squared to make it; the stone is taken as it was found, and no two will ever repeat.

  • Material: Single black river stone boulder
  • Dimensions: 1700 × 1000 × 600 mm · 66.9 × 39.4 × 23.6 in
  • Wall: 60 mm / 2.4 in uniform, fixed on the drawings you approve
  • Finish: Natural split outer face, hand-carved; water-jet finished bowl
  • Weight, empty: approx. 900 kg / 1,984 lb (±50 kg, marked on the packing list)
  • Weight, filled and occupied: approx. 1,352 kg / 2,981 lb
  • Lead time: 14–22 weeks from order to delivery

No two are alike, and this one least of all. Because the piece begins as a whole boulder rather than a cut block, its outer face is entirely hand-carved and will differ from every photograph shown. The finished weight is confirmed in writing before any balance is due.

This piece needs a structural check. At roughly 1,352 kg (2,981 lb) filled and in use, over 1.70 m² (18.3 ft²), Erebus exceeds the live load most US residential upper floors are designed for. On a ground-floor slab it is rarely a question. Anywhere above the ground storey, have your architect or a structural engineer confirm the loading before you reserve — we send the exact measured figures for your piece at no charge. Full data for the collection is on the specifications page.

Made to order. The price includes crating, freight, transit insurance with the sum insured stated in writing on your order, and all US import duty and customs charges. Atelier Earthmade is the importer of record — nothing further is payable on delivery. Delivered to the ground-floor threshold within the United States; rigging and installation are not included.

Ordering, cancellation and delivery. Your order is held for three days while we read the access, the floor and the route to your threshold, and confirm that plan to you in writing. Within 72 hours of payment clearing either of us may step back — you for any reason, us if the making or the logistics cannot be confirmed — with a full refund. After that window the block is bought and cut, and the commission is final unless we agree otherwise in writing. If the piece arrives damaged you must refuse the delivery — do not sign for it; that refusal is what permits the transit insurance claim. See terms of sale and refunds & cancellation.
