Onyx is among the few stones that pass light. It is the reason three vessels in the collection — Candela in honey, Verde in green, Alba in white — are carved deliberately thin: around 30 to 35 millimetres at the wall, against 60 to 70 for the opaque stones.
That wall is a decision with consequences. Thin carving in a calcite stone means slower work, higher block waste, and a piece that weighs roughly 300 kilograms instead of 600. What it buys is the effect: lit from behind, the vessel stops being an object in the room and becomes the light in it.
